WEEKLY SPECIAL CLASSES Monday – Music Tuesday - PE Thursday – Library Mon. & Wed. – After school math tutoring
April 11, 2008 I am now collecting the March reading calendars. If your child has read at least 15 different days in March please make sure their calendar is signed and returned. The students that have read 15 or more days and return their calendars will be able to select a reward. The students were given their new April reading calendar just before Spring Break. We will start to work on Unit 7 in math on Monday. The unit is titled “Geometry and Attributes”. The students will be learning the names and characteristics of 2-dimentional and 3-dimentional shapes, as well as continuing to practice addition and subtraction, fact families, fact triangles, number stories, measurement, telling time and counting money. The Grapeview Parents’ Club will be having their annual fund raiser auction June 7th. They have requested that each class donate items of a specific theme to be placed in a basket or container for the auction. The first graders’ theme is “Beach Fun”. It would be very helpful if you could donate new items to be included in the basket. Some suggestions for donations are beach towels, sun glasses, suntan lotion, sand pails and shovels, beach chairs, picnic items, summertime toys and games, etc. I will be collecting the donated from now through May 15th. Our first grade class will be taking a field trip with the kindergarten class to Northwest Trek on Friday, May 16th. I have sent a field trip permission form home with each first grader. The form needs to be signed and returned with $7.00 by Thursday, April 24th. Parents that would like to chaperone should sign their name on the designated line and include another $7.00 for their admission fee also.
